Capriole Choy Tsee Wai,

M. Clin Psych. (HELP University, M’sia)

Clinical Psychologist      

 

Capriole is a Clinical Psychologist with a Masters in Clinical Psychology from HELP University, Malaysia. She completed her Bachelors degree (2nd Class Hon.) in Psychology under a twinning programme at Winona State University, Minnesota, U.S.A. During her studies abroad, she was on the Dean’s List and the recipient of the Golden Key International Honour Society membership for two consecutive years. She also co-authored and presented two depression papers at the Wisconsin Seven Rivers Undergraduate Research Symposium, and the 38th Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference. Upon her return home, she became a Research Assistant at HELP University’s CAREERSense, where she edited and completed the department’s psychometric tests manual, assisted in the construction of new test items, and promoted psychometric tests to private and international schools.

 

Capriole’s work experiences extend to a variety of settings such as education institutions, government hospitals, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, private health centers, and the corporate and financial sectors. She was previously based in Kuala Lumpur General Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health, before moving to Klang General Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry to set up a Clinical Psychology unit. As such, she has been exposed to and relates well to a wide spectrum of clients from diverse backgrounds and populations. Her clinical training has given her opportunities to work with adolescents, children with special needs, hospital patients, refugees, stranded migrants and human trafficking victims. Some of her managed cases include anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, personality disorders, learning, and behavioural disorders. Additionally, she has collaborated with other health professionals on case referrals and management, and organized psycho-educational talks and workshops. Apart from that, she was a part-time lecturer to Year-3 Psychology students at UCSI University.

 

Capriole practices and believes in an integrative and eclectic psychotherapy approach, one that prioritizes and emphasizes the needs of clients. Her aspirations are strategic involvement with other scientific disciplines to improve prognosis rates and develop new treatment methods. Additionally, she hopes to increase public awareness of mental health issues and their access to treatment.
